tiny7 has a ton of the extra crap that is with original 7 removed, hence "tiny7".
now as far as compatibility mode goes, i only use it with older games that have a rendering issue on vista or win7, like bad pixelation, but with that i use the other settings also like run in 256 colors. disable visual themes, disable scaling on high dpi settings. a good use of the compatibility mode is with the game farcry, if you try to run the setup in vista or win7 you will get an error. run in xp sp2 mode and it will install. the reason for this is since vista was released the main os stacks have been changed, so when the installer makes a call for a specific .dll it is unable to locate it because of the new name changes or locations. another example with this is with the install a game will normally make a %temp% location for install prerequisites and then a %appdata% and %userprofile% location, with vista and win7 these variables are changed, so compatibility mode will spoof the install by redirecting to the appropriate locations. -- INTEL 9xx SOLDIERS SANS FRONTIERS
