I really like the idea of subversion.
However, I'd love to see the current stage of development.
There could be a simple tag stating "HIGHLY UNSTABLE", "FOR TESTING BY
ADVANCED USERS ONLY" or something along those lines.
It would silence all those asking for the status or driver - they
could just get the latest version (even if it's early alpha)
themselves.
Additionally, you could use a bug tracker and ask users to tell you
about bugs they experienced (maybe only get feedback from a small
group or from the public, you could try it ;) ).
Another bonus would be version control, meaning that you can save any
change to subversion and if you realize that you screwed up somewhere
you can go back to that very revision of your file.

If there's a major release, you just mark it as stable and release it
on the normal channels as well ;)

To put it short: I'd love to see you release your driver - even if
it's in a very early stage - and you could benefit from that move as
well :)
