Before win95 the whole single game folder did work because the original was made to work that way. Now we have registry, shared files, etc etc etc. The best example is when ANY alternative to a legit game, be it rip or cracked, runs at almost half the speed, just because the protection is so wound up that cracking only makes the game work, not nearly at full speed :S
