Like I told you, in the event that you only have a single hdd
available, partition it and store the data you want to backup there,
then format the system drive and clean install windows 7. After that
it's just a matter of joining the partitions or just leaving it like
that, as you should have more than one partition to begin with. When
backups are just documents, audio, video and images, it's of no
concern, just store them on a different partition and you're all clear
to format and install a new OS.
