Try to get the RAM with the same manufacturer with your current RAM, 2
GB is enough for most of games in Medium or High.
But actually I think it doesn't matter, I had a 512 MB bus 533 and I
installed another 1GB bus 667 (it's even sec hand with 3-month
guarantee lol),they all have different manufacturer, the system is
still stable (no sudden crash or BSOD). I have this mainboard:

Why don't u make a ghost of your system bro, it help u when u get the
virus.I prefer making a clean install when I get one :P Windows system
restore is lame, it takes your hdd space and even may make a back up
of the virus so I turn it off.
And don't ever ever ever input a strange usb in your system even with
autorun disabled. I got that kinda painful experience with that,
besides of regular virus trick, it infect all my exe, and the worst
thing is I didn't know that till I thought I won and start installing
the programs on fresh windows... :(
