judging the jpg i just seen from a Gateway bios, yes, it looks kinda hopeless and depressing in setting it to IDE support. now there's a good example of a failsafe bios. omfg. :)
kinda running out of tips on getting XP on it, pretty much a state of forget about it... however, 2 gb ram is kinda low for running x64 W7 ultimate ( i did read that correctly? ), you might just be asking too much of the laptop. have you tried turning off all the fancy WDDM stuff? create some more virtual rom?
