Speakers are plugged in the jack, and I don't mess with the jack or anything. As soon as I go into a UE3 game (or shortly after I start it) audio just swaps from the speakers to internal speaker.
I don't recall seeing jack detection either in the CP, but I'll have to reinstall the drivers a bit later.
