There is another alternative that would work for all onboard chipsets
and dedicated soundcards, but it's a pain to set up, and on onboard
chipsets could end up producing even more hissing, so wouldn't be
useful for your case :(

But I'm sure some of those mods might work for you. So, what's the
model of your ADI?
