Well, right now I have my XD-53 as the main pair of headphones, but
for PS2 gaming I use two headphones, a Philips and a Technics, as the
source isn't as good as from my pc and they are more than enough for
non competitive gaming. I use headphones most of the time due to not
having enough money to get speakers with equivalent quality of the
headphones. After all, speakers systems are much more expensive to get
in order to match similar specced headphones.
Well... there is such thing as the best headphones ever, but they cost
more than some cars, and their sales are suspected to be involved in
money laundering schemes, but that's a story for another time... But
yes, it's mainly about compromise. I'm getting titanium drivers on my
next headphones, which are stiffer than ferrites or neodymium, so they
will perform better for a certain range of music, yet I plan on
burning them in enough to smooth out the whole frequency range. I also
have a broad musical taste, but I've trained my ears to burn in just
like the headphones, which work for 95% of the music. I'm still on the
fence over the whole pink/brown noise issue.
