This isn't a counterargument to "Electron apps do not follow the native style, yet they do exist (and some are quite popular) on the desktop". I am not judging the quality of Electron itself.
I'm aware there are technical difficulties but there should be a
solution. For example, they could choose reusing QStyle as a quick
solution and improve - or replace - it later on with GPU optimizations.

This IIRC is what is being done by the QQC2 native style plugin that has been linked earlier in the thread.

About touching QStyle code, I simply don't see it happen without justifying the super-massive investment required. In other words, IMHO, there isn't enough demand for native QQC2 styles to justify it.
