Something I mentioned in the past but would just also say at this point.
Sometimes there are ifIndex changes, which cause a traffic stream being
measured to vanish off to some other ifIndex value. Restoring this is
tedious at present. It would be handy if one could tie the chart to
something other than ifIndex.
In addition, these changes cause data loss because I can't relate the two
ifIndex values together. Now, such changes occur less frequently than they
used to, but there is a situation where such a change can occur
legitimately. This is when we upgrade a customer's access speed, so they
might move from say an OC3 to an OC12. It's certainly useful then to be
able to relate traffic before and after. What we are in fact charting is
"Customer X's Traffic", not "Traffic on interface #X". So it would be nice
to be able to tie two traffic streams together, somehow.
