Additional thoughts on strip charts....

When data is unavailable for a period, IM draws a line connecting the last good value 
with the later one (a slanted line in most cases, depending on the scales and values). 
 This is misleading as the implied interpolated values do not really exist.  It would 
be better to omit the missing data points, rather than connecting to the previous good 
point.

Also, there is no way to distinguish data points off scale high or low.  Some 
mechanism to do this would be helpful (though log scales will mitigate this somewhat).
