do any of the non-resource image formats support green/red/yellow state at this time?

Perhaps part of the confusion/misunderstanding is that you're still thinking about the spec we use in the resource files for the black and green/red/orange/yellow icons. Where JPGs and PNGs are concerned, any JPG and many PNGs may be used. The drawback with using just any JPG or PNG at the moment is that there's no way to show the state, but we expect that to be addressed in the very near future. When it has been, will that be what you're looking for? -- Christopher -- ================================================ Christopher L.
