You can (if you have the time) create a graphic to add as a background image for the map.
The trouble here, is that you need to figure out how big it should be, and then lay it out.
As IM can use all formats known by QuickTime (as I remember), you could do it directly in PhotoShop format.
Others might have some ideas also..
