This may not be the best way but I found you can connect anything with a link by holding down the "E" key and dragging from one item to another. It is documented here:

Hey All,

Currently using IM 4.1.3 (I do have new version, but that is going on a new machine and I haven't gotten around to that yet) and I am trying to add a new network to my map. I can add the network and the network oval appears but IM does not show the link line to the core switch on my map. The funny thing is that when I create a new map and do an auto discovery, IM detects and adds the network and the link to the core switch for the new network. I would rather not have to recreate a whole new map to reflect just one small addition. Any ideas?

Thanks!
