I assume that you are talking about Remote/Console on OS X. Apple's
JVM anti-aliases text by default, and has large default font sizes
(pt size 12, I believe). You can turn off anti-aliasing in the
Graphics Settings window accessed from the Misc menu of the Debug
window (open the Debug window by pressing Cmd-Alt-Shift-Z).
If you tell us specifically which text is too large, we can see about
reducing the size when running on OS X.
