What are the three fonts that the web server has access to?
If one sticks to using these three on maps will any issues be avoided?
Arial, Courier, and Times (or maybe it's TimesRoman...hold on...yep,
TimesRoman). That's not enough, though. Even though the fonts are the
same, the interpretation of the point size is going to be different.
Something that is 12-point in the client will look smaller there than
the equivalent thing in 12-point in the web server, owing to
different interpretations of what a point is. In 4.4, I am working
around this by doing a bit of math on the point size set in the
client to determine the correct point size to use in the web server
to make it look the same.
Also, will we see any improvements in 4.4 for the disparity in
overall image size between the web server and remote? Ie. maps drawn
in remote appear to be about 25% larger when viewed via the web
interface.
Yes, I expect so. It's all tied into the same issue, as the size of
the objects on the map in the web server are determined by the size
of the fonts for the labels.
