All:

I seem to have discovered a possible solution.

By adding the following to the /boot/grub/menu.1st file the time seems
to have stabilized.

Change this: kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.8-3-386 root=/dev/sda1
ro
To this: kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.8-3-386
root=/dev/sda1 ro nosmp noapic nolapic clock=pit

This is located towards the end of the file.

Subject: [IM-Talk] Intermapper running Debian 3.1 under VMWare having
clocking issues
Importance: High

All:

We are having some serious clock issues with our new Intermapper server
running Debian Linux 3.1 as a VMWare guest on a Windows Host. I run the
ntpdate function and within seconds the time is already out of sync by
several minutes. This seems to be why I am getting a lot on unnecessary
alarms.

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem? An immediate response
would be greatly appreciated.
