Well, all blocking port 8181 does not stop it from Trying to use
Bonjour to discover, and it certainly blocks it from connecting to
default configured servers, so I would vote that's a bad solution.
I read the original request, as a way to stop IM Remote to auto-add
bonjour discovered servers, or simply ignore bonjour completely.
A simple preference setting?

to a port number other than 8181.
Or simply use your OS's firewall to prevent Remote from using UDP
