I believe Uptime is being polled from the switch itself via SNMP. It has
nothing to do with the outages detected by IM.

Funny you mention this, I have the same problem with one of my FWSM blades. I
haven't figured out what causes it yet. However, I'll tell you this much. Every
time my blade disappears from IM the arp entry for it disappears from the
switch it as well, so I don't know if it's IM.
Can you get to your switch from the IM server command line by ping?

Subject: [IM-Talk] Intermapper shows intermittent downs on Alcatel Switches

Has anyone out there had an issue with Alcatel 6148 switches reporting
intermittent outages - actually flashing red. Every single one of our 6148's
report this issue and there does not appear to be any rhyme or reason to the
timings, nor are they all at the same time. We have been working with Alcatel
off and on for several months and they are trying to indicate and issue with
Intermapper and the SNMP probe. We have some other Alcatel models (6850's)
that don't have this problem, nor does the Extreme switches we are installing,
only the 6148's. I told Alcatel today that is wasn't an issue with
Intermapper as we also run Solar Winds and their performance log also shows the
intermittent outage.

Below is a screen shot.

[cid:[email protected]]Note the up time, even though there are
recent outages and the Status Up time states today. Most recent code on the
switch was updated almost 8 days ago, at which time the switch was restarted.
