About a hundred or so of our maps run on different Intermapper
servers. We do this intentionally to get multiple vantage points.
It is pain to manually keep the maps on the master servers and on the
shadow servers in synchronization. There are various ways to do this
including export map and import map. All methods are tedious and
error prone when you have hundreds of maps and multiple servers
involved, and as a result map updates don't get propagated in a
timely manner.
It would simply such setups if the shadow server could automatically
synchronize maps from the master server. All details except the
vantage point would be synchronized. On the shadow server Import
would be extended to have 5 options:
Import Map File...
Import Data File...
Import Probe...
Import MIB...
Import Map From Server...
Synchronization would be done server to server say every hour,
without involvement of Intermapper Data Center. From the Intermapper
Data Center perspective this would continue to be seen as different
servers with different maps.
