i didn't track when this happened to know if it coincides with a
specific intermapper release, a change to our DNS here or something
else. but it used to be when I put in a device by IP and set "update
name from ip" that it would pickup it's name in under a minute or if I
hit cmd-k for reprobe. Now when I use that setting it can take more
than 30 minutes (after that I get busy and get back to it some hours
or days later). it's bad enough when it displays the IP instead of
the short, smart name and I can't make things look nice and neat, but
today I duplicated a probe and then gave the new one a new IP
(actually I did that 6 times). I now have 7 things showing with the
same hostname because DNS doesn't resolve.
I've got the right campus DNS server in both the intermapper server
config and the actual Mac it's running on. Any advice how to speed
this up would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
