We would be delighted to have you use it and send us comments and bug reports. It contains many new features and several bug fixes. Please see the "What's New" page and the Release Notes for a complete list. Changes since 5.3b2: - InterMapper RemoteAccess installer for Windows should once again work correctly. NEW FEATURES in 5.3: * InterMapper RemoteAccess "License Pools": In certain situations, you may want a number of users to access an InterMapper server with InterMapper RemoteAccess but don't want to purchase a license for each user. You can purchase InterMapper RemoteAccess "license pool" licenses and apply them to the InterMapper server. Through this mechanism, users can use unlicensed copies of InterMapper RemoteAccess to connect an InterMapper server until all licenses in the pool are in use. License are returned to the pool as unlicensed copies disconnect. If a users runs a licensed copy of InterMapper RemoteAccess, it does not count against the license pool. The user can connect even if all licenses in the pool are being used. * The text in the status window is now selectable and copyable. In addition, Charts; Map, Device, Notifier, Chart lists; and Server logs are now printable. * Interfaces and the interfaces window: The way the server and client exchange information about interfaces has been streamlined to significantly improve performance when handling maps with many hidden interfaces. In addition, the interfaces window is now modeless and updates its info at each poll cycle. It is now possible to simultaneously open Interfaces Windows for multiple selected devices. Additionally, an 'Allow Periodic Reprobe' control has been added to the Interfaces Window. * Server Settings window is no longer modal. * Wireless probe licensing: Wireless probes are no longer a separate item and will now be available to all users. Users who currently have both wired and wireless licenses will be able to apply the combined total license count to all devices, regardless of family, until maintenance renewal. * There are a number of changes to the InterMapper DataCenter, especially InterMapper Database and to the way InterMapper exports to it. A few are cosmetic and visible; most will be invisible, but should result in better visibility, control, and performance. Please refer to the "What's New" page and the Release Notes for a complete list and description of the new features and bug fixes. OTHER NOTES: Warning: THIS IS TEST SOFTWARE! We recommend that you do not install InterMapper 5.3 beta releases on your primary InterMapper server; install it on a secondary machine and work with a copy of your InterMapper Settings folder. We have provided a test serial number on the download page that you can use for an entirely separate installation. We have also included an InterMapper RemoteAccess "license pool" license on the download page for you to try. Having said all that, we deeply appreciate your willingness to try out these early versions. Your feedback gives us a lot of insight into the problems of people who manage real networks. Thanks again. The InterMapper Team PS. Why "Ghost"? Well, all of our customers love the traffic "ants". With over 1,500 species of ants in Australia, we figure that we'll never run out of code names...http://www.ento.csiro.au/aicn/name_c/a_1675.htm LINKS: Download: http://intermapper.com/downloads/binaries/?release=beta Release Notes: http://www.intermapper.com/releasenotes53 What's New: http://www.intermapper.com/whatsnew53 ____________________________________________________________________ List archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/intermapper-talk%40list.dartware.com/ To unsubscribe: send email to: intermapper-talk-...@list.dartware.com "DISCLAIMER: This message is proprietary to Aricent and is intended solely for the use of the individual to whom it is addressed.
