You can do what you are asking quite easily on InterMapper.

To specify a role on a device, right click on the device, select Set Info, and 
then from the Set Device Kind pull down, select your device type.

To probe for specific ports/applications, right click on the device and set a 
probe.  You will find a number of probes under Servers-Standards.

Hey all I am currently testing out Intermapper. I was wondering if there was 
any way to specify a role for a device. We are looking to specify a device on 
the map as a domain controller, DNS server, or web server. Also looking to 
monitor traffic on specific ports such as 80 or 443 on a web server. Any way to 
do that?
