There's a new Beta (0.7.6) of the InterMapper Splunk app out on Splunkbase which is supposed to have improvements to dashboard generation, better notifications of problems connecting to the InterMapper server and more graceful handling of missing Layer 2 data. I suggest trying the new version to see if that resolves any of your issues with the app.
