We spotted the same exact thing when doing the first tests of Drupal on PHP 5.4, which lead to the following change (already released in all the affected versions of Drupal): http://drupal.org/node/1209470 Given how most of PHP miserably fails to handle float timestamp, I'm in favor of reverting the change too.
