One point of correction: it isn’t Inside Radio that is doing this, it is
TuneIn. Inside Radio is simply reporting on it.

I’m sympathetic and sick of excessive advertising, too. Whatever we think of
advertising, the question is how is the streaming paid for if it isn’t
advertising?

Are we, as listeners, willing to pay subscription fees? Is there any other
alternative?

(For the record, I am a paid subscriber of several streaming services.)

Sadly, I agree.

I have almost completely stopped watching TV and have not signed up for Hulu
Plus because of ads.

Perhaps Inside Radio will offer a premium choice without ads.

It does make one nostalgic for the old days of ad free short wave.

Pre-roll ads in the works at TuneIn.
One of the most sought after streaming audio ad units is the pre-roll,
the short-form video commercial that listeners are forced to sit
through before accessing their desired stream. Many broadcasters
already run a pre-roll. Now online audio aggregator TuneIn reportedly
plans to insert pre-roll audio ads before broadcasters’ streams.
