Prize in Latin American Thought

Summary

The APA Board of Officers and Committee on Hispanics are pleased to announce
the new, annual "APA Prize in Latin American Thought." The purpose of this
prize is to encourage fruitful work in Latin American thought. Eligible essays
must contain original arguments and broach philosophical topics clearly
related to the specific experiences of Hispanic Americans and Latinos.

Prize: $500.00

Recipient: The author of the best unpublished philosophical essay in Latin
American thought.

Language: English.

Length: 5,000 to 7,000 words. Word count required with submission.

Publication The winning essay will be published in the APA Newsletter on
Hispanic/Latino Issues in Philosophy.

Award Committee The recipient will be selected by members of the APA Committee
on Hispanics.

Submission Procedures

Submission Requirements The essay must be previously unpublished. The author
must be a member of the APA at the time of submission and awarding of the prize.

Submission Materials: 4 copies of the essay, 4 abstracts (of no more than 200
words), and a title page with author's name, affiliation, contact email, title
of essay, and word counts for the essay and abstract. These materials must be
prepared for blind review. Include also a separate cover letter with a brief
biographical statement.

Deadline:
Submissions should be postmarked no later than June 5, 2004. The first prize
will be awarded at the 2004 Eastern Division Meeting in Boston.
