Topics:

1. Current Challenges to Social Policy and Social Well-Being:
Economic; Political/Legal; Demographic, Unemployment, etc.

2. Social Policy and Populations with Special Needs:
Social Exclusion, Poverty, and Inequality
The Elderly, Children, Racial and Ethnic Minorities, Persons
with Disabilities, Immigrants, Workers, Persons with Chronic
Mental Illness, etc.

3. Gender, Class, and Social Policy:
How Well Can Welfare States Do?
Desirable and feasible models for the 21st century.


Keynote Speakers:
Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Laureate in Economics,
Joakim Palme, Professor of Sociology, Stockholm University


Please note: The Conference Committee welcomes submissions
that contribute to the goals of the Conference but are not
necessarily covered by the above topics.

Submission Guidelines for Abstracts:
Length: Abstracts must not exceed 500 words.

Submission Deadline:
Abstracts are due on or before July 15, 2004.

Criteria for Selection:
Abstracts will be evaluated on their relevance to the
conference goals, originality, theoretical and/or empirical
acumen, and cogency.

Acceptance Notification:
Participants will be notified of the acceptance of their
submissions by September 15, 2004.

Electronic sumbissions are encouraged.
