Call for Papers "Identities" 2nd Annual Conference of The Centre for Liverpool and Merseyside Studies Ormskirk, Lancashire (UK) 31 March 1 April 2005
Hosted by The History Department at Edge Hill The aim of this interdisciplinary conference is to examine the ways in which overlapping and multi-faceted identities characterise or construct regions, communities, groups and individuals. Identities underpin economic, social, cultural and political events/trends and also colour our understandings of them. What aspects of our identities do we share, or not, with others and what has been the impact of this on the lives of individuals and societies? Papers might therefore be micro-studies or consider broad issues such as gender, racial or class identities in current or past societies. The aim of The Centre for Liverpool & Merseyside Studies is to initiate, encourage and develop research into the history, culture and society of Liverpool and Merseyside. Therefore, papers are especially welcome on the subject of local and regional identities. Keynote speakers: David Richardson (University of Hull) Phil Scraton (Queens University, Belfast) John Walton (University of Central Lancashire) Please send abstract of 200-250 words to the address/email below. Closing date for submission of abstracts: 31 January 2005 For further information please contact: Alyson Brown Department of History Centre for Liverpool and Merseyside Studies (CLAMS) Edge Hill St Helens Road Ormskirk, Lancashire L39 4QP UK Tel. +44 (1695) 584485 Email: [email protected] Website: http://www.edgehill.ac.uk/Faculties/HMSAS/history/news.htm _________________________________ InterPhil List Administration: http://interphil.polylog.org/ Intercultural Philosophy Calendar: http://agd.polylog.org/cal/
