International Colloquium Wolfson College, Oxford University Oxford (UK) 14-16 March 2008 __________________________________________________ A colloquium exploring fundamental and foundational problems and issues in comparative philosophy. What counts as successful, valid, valuable, useful or meaningful comparative philosophy? Can we determine criteria for progress in comparative philosophy? What are the appropriate methods to pursue? The colloquium seeks to encourage new reflection on old and familiar problems as well as debate current issues within, and about, comparative philosophy. The emphasis will be on Asian and western traditions. The conference will take place in Wolfson College, a graduate college of Oxford University. It is an excellent venue for a gathering on comparative philosophy - the Oxford centres for Tibetan and Buddhist studies are located in Wolfson, while the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies and the Institute for Chinese Studies are located close to the college. All meals and refreshments will be taken in Wolfson, participants are welcome from a range of different disciplines.
