The Department of Islamic Philosophy at the Faculty of Dar-ul Ulûm of
Cairo University intends to hold its 16th international conference
titled: "Enlightenment in Islamic Thought: Necessities and Scopes"

On 19th & 20th April 2011 at the Faculty of Dar-ul Ulûm

You are cordially invited, together with faculty members specialized
in this area, to participate in one of the conference themes.

Conference Themes:
1. Enlightenment and the Problems of Terminology in Contemporary
   Islamic Thought
2. Enlightenment in Islamic Thought: its Necessities and Criteria
3. Enlightenment Projects in Modern Islamic Thought
4. Enlightenment Projects in Modern Western Thought
5. Westernization Projects in Islamic Thought

- Deadline for submitting abstracts: February 15, 2011.
- Deadline for submitting full papers: March 1, 2011
- Kindly note that participants are to bear their travel and
  accommodation expenses, in addition to publishing expenses of
  research papers in the Conference Proceedings.
- Registration fees for participants resident in Egypt: L.E. 200.
  Staff members at Egyptian Universities are exempt from registration
  fees.
- Registration fees for overseas participants: $ 100.
- Publication fees, for accepted papers, in the Conference
  Proceedings: L.E. 500 for papers submitted by local residents, $ 200
  for papers submitted by overseas participants.
- Full paper guidelines: The full research paper should not exceed 30
  pages, prepared in MS  Word format. A CD should also be submitted,
  together with a hard copy printed on A4 paper.

Style guidelines:
- main title: 18 pt, bold.
- upper margin: 5cm, lower margin:5cm.
- heading: 1.25, footer: 1.25.
- main text: 14 pt, Simplified Arabic.
- Footnotes: 12pt, Simplified Arabic.
English papers:
- main text: 12 pt, Times New Roman.
- footnotes: 10 pt, Times New Roman.
