Religion, and religious tradition, has become part of South East
Asia’s life and history. What is more is that religion is a crucial
factor in the society’s changes in the region from colonial time to
the current globalization era. In other words, the role of religion
still continues in the people’s societal life and politics down to
globalization era. There are many questions can be raised with regard
to the issues surrounding Islam, society, and politics of identity in
the region, such as how the religion survives in the changing
society.

In its fiftieth anniversary, the International Journal of Islamic
Studies Al Jamiah, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University Yogyakarta
invites you to submit an abstract about studies and researches
related to the theme above. Approaches and theories, seen from
historical, philosophical, sociological, anthropological, political
perspectives, and other disciplines, pertinent to the studies of
Islam with other factors in the region are welcomed.

The themes as follows are welcome:
- Issues related to Islamic tradition and Identity in one of the
  countries in South East Asia
- History of Islam in the region
- Islamic movements, studies of radical or liberal groups in the
  region
- Islam and other religions, Muslims and other people with different
  faiths, interfaith dialogue, conflict, or conflict resolutions
- Researches on the current Islam
- Islam and literature

The abstract should be submitted no later than 25 November 2012 to:

The seminar will be held on 15-16 December 2012.
