Under the theme, “Unsettling Conversations, Unmaking Racisms and
Colonialisms,” the 14th Annual Critical Race and Anticolonial Studies
Conference, invites contributors to think through the ideas, theories,
scholarship and activism that shape the local, national and global
conversations on racisms, colonialisms and intersectionality. The
conference aims to centre attention on the plural and durable forms of
racisms and colonialisms in the present, and on the challenges to
resistance, activism and transformation. This conference will be
animated by the difficult, contentious – that is, unsettlingly –
conversations on racisms and colonialisms that take place or need to
take place in the academy, in organizations and networks, and society
more generally. A major focus of the conference will be the everyday
practices, experiences and technologies of racisms, of living and
working in spaces of racial hierarchies and formations, racial
exclusion and marginality, and even racial expulsion. Another
interrelated focus of the conference is the durability and legacies
of diverse forms of colonialism and the challenge of decolonizing
contemporary politics, laws, policies and practices. Finally, the
conference invites contributors to present theoretical and empirical
case studies of transformative dialogues, collaboration, alliances,
and movements.

The organizers especially invite papers that take a critical,
intersectional and interdisciplinary perspective in one of the
following areas:

- Praxis of difficult, contentious and unsettling conversations on
  racisms, colonialisms, and intersectionality
- Unsettling racisms and colonialisms: ideas, theories, policies,
  practices, resistance, decolonization
- Theories and empirical case studies of the representation, status
and experiences of Indigenous peoples and racialized minorities in
the academy, in national organizations, on boards, in parliament,
  city councils and society
- Intersectionality: theories, methodologies, practices
- Antiracism and decolonial ideas, theories, struggles, alliances,
  and social movements
- Teaching and research race, indigeneity and intersectional
