The Faculty of Arts, Cairo University will host the third biannual
international conference on “Liberty and Human Rights” in April 2017.
Plenary lectures, presentations and papers will be held on campus in
the Faculty of Arts Conference Hall.

We welcome proposals for papers (20 minutes long followed by a ten
minute discussion) and coordinated panels (comprising either 3 or 4
papers) by academic staff, graduate students, or others interested in
the topics suggested below. We are keen to encourage papers from a
broad range of perspectives.

Suggested topics:

- Local, regional and international experiences
- The rights of women and children
- Freedom of knowledge and the right to access information
- Intellectual property and the exchange of information
- Security, liberty and human rights
- Revolutions, liberty and human rights
- Culture, liberty and human rights
- Literature and art and liberty and human rights
- The media, liberty and human rights
- Sociolinguistics and liberty and human rights
- Information, knowledge and privacy
- Cultural differences and coexistence
- Liberty and the law
- Citizenship and human development
- The rights of minorities and the marginalized
- Human rights in international law
- Human rights and the international community
- The role of human rights organizations in defending liberty
- The role of the university in spreading awareness in society

Please send your title and abstract in both English and Arabic (no
more than 250 words each), and short c.v. no later than 15 December
2016, to: [email protected]

The languages of the conference are Arabic and/or English.
Please indicate which language you will use.

Registration Fee: $300.

General editorial principles:
To be considered for publication, all submissions must be
typewritten, with text, block quotations, list of works cited, and
notes double-spaced and in the same size of font. There should be
ample margins, and pages should be numbered.
