Theme

This meeting will focus on reflection of the topic “Learning to Be
Human” proposed by the XXIV World Congress of Philosophy to be held
at Peking University, Beijing, China, August 13-20, 2018). This theme
of the World Congress of Philosophy emphasizes on “exploring
dimensions of the human and inquiring into the challenges facing
humanity,” especially orientating toward current concerns of
humanity, such as issues related to ecology, justice, and peace from
philosophical, cultural, socio-political perspectives. In this light,
the National University of Lanús would like to propose two-day
conference to continue the above-mentioned subjects for those who
would have taken part in the World Congress as well as to those who
will not be able to go to Beijing for the Congress. This conference
will especially reflect on the issue of being human from Latin
American perspectives.

We plan to have participation of twelve international scholars who
will present their views on these problematic topics. After each
presentation we will encourage the audience to discuss and exchange
their ideas and insights in order to enrich the discussion.

The structure of the conference will be divided into two sections:
Three scholars will present their papers in the morning, other three
in the afternoon. Each presenters will have an hour for presentation
and discussion. All twelve scholars will actively participate in the
entire meeting.
