As an experienced .net / SQL programmer, how hard is it going to be for me to utilize Cache as a backend instead of SQL? Will my SQL queries transfer over to Cache utilizing ADO.Net?
I would venture to say not too hard given that Cach� is especially well suited to this kind of migration, from SQL Server. Then again, I haven't done it myself (yet).
They have a time crunch issue, so, if it takes too long for me to get up to speed, we are going to have to go SQL and explore Cache at a later date.
Something to consider - AFAIK the next version of Cach� will have native TransactSQL support. I was looking at http://www.intersystems.com/devcon2004/sessionschedule.html trying to find a presentation where a 97% automated migration is claimed, but couldn't find which presentation it is. So even if it may be a bit harder now it may be worth looking into it.
