This is in process as we speak. To my knowledge the customer in question is going live on an adhoc version of 5.0.5 with the TSQL extensions added in the next 10 days. It converted the entire application to my knowledge although it is possible there was some minimal hand massaging required.

Mike,

As an experienced .net / SQL programmer, how hard is it going to be for me
to utilize Cache as a backend instead of SQL? Will my SQL queries
transfer over to Cache utilizing ADO.Net?

I would venture to say not too hard given that Cach is especially well suited to this kind of migration, from SQL Server. Then again, I haven't done it myself (yet).

They have a time crunch issue, so, if it takes too long for me to get up to
speed, we are going to have to go SQL and explore Cache at a later date.

Something to consider - AFAIK the next version of Cach will have native TransactSQL support. I was looking at http://www.intersystems.com/devcon2004/sessionschedule.html trying to find a presentation where a 97% automated migration is claimed, but couldn't find which presentation it is. So even if it may be a bit harder now it may be worth looking into it.

HTH,

Ramn
