(AFP Photo/Jewel Samad) President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will declare a comprehensive partnership between Indonesia and Germany during Merkel’s visit to Jakarta, which begins on Tuesday. Responding to Yudhoyono’s visit in 2009 to Germany, Merkel will travel to Indonesia with her state secretary for economic affairs, parliament members, and German business representatives. Teuku Faizasyah, a member of the president’s staff for international relations said in a written statement on Saturday that the comprehensive partnership will mark a new visionary relationship focusing on cooperation. “Bilateral meetings between the President and Chancellor will focus on better cooperation on some prioritized sectors: Mainly on trade and investment, education, research and technology, health and defense industry,” Faizasyah said. “The visit will be also used by both government leaders to discuss regional and global issues that have been of concern.” Besides meetings and a dinner with Yudhoyono, Merkel will visit the Kalibata Hero Cemetery, Immanuel church in Gambir and Istiqlal mosque. She will also meet with Constitutional Court Chief Mahfud MD and attend an Indonesian-German business leaders meeting. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
