The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Archipelago | Wed, November 07 2012, 6:22 PM

The Indonesian Military (TNI) has found a camp suspected of being a training
ground for terrorists in Tamanjeka hamlet, Masani village, Poso regency,
Central Sulawesi, the Poso Police said on Wednesday.

Poso Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Eko Santoso said that the camp, located
2-kilometers from a military post at Tamanjeka, was discovered on Saturday.

At the camp, the military found a rifle, 10 bullets, field outfits, raincoats,
knives, transformers, oil, cables, batteries and a tree with the word
“Al-jihad” carved on it.

Al-jihad is an Islamic extremist group, active since the late 1970s and seeking
to overthrow the Egyptian government and replace it with an Islamic state.

“All evidence has been secured at Poso Police station and is now being analyzed
by the Automatic Fingerprints Identification System [Inafis] of the Poso Police
and the Central Sulawesi Police,” he said, adding that the military was still
combing the area of Tamanjeka, as quoted by tempo.co.

The regency has witnessed a series of terrorist attacks since August, including
a shooting in Sepe village in August, which killed a local resident, Noldi
Ombolando; a shooting at Masani village in October, which injured resident
Hasman Sao; an explosion in Kawua in October; an explosion at a traffic police
post in Poso in October, which injured a policeman and a security officer, and
the killing of two police officers, namely Chief. Brig. Sudirman and First
Brig. Andi Sappa, whose bodies were found in Tamanjeka in October. (han/swd
