Wednesday 14 November 2012 Era of U.S. military threats has come to an end: Iranian general TEHRAN – The chief of the General Staff of Iranian armed forces said on Tuesday that the era of issuing military threats against Iran by the United States has come to an end. Issuing military threats against Iran is meaningless, Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said, adding, “The era of military threats of the United states is past,” and Iran is no longer faced with a threat of war posed by the U.S. He also said that Iranian armed forces have been reorganized in order to be able to adapt themselves to the current situation in the world. Commenting on the sanctions imposed on Iran by the West, Firouzabadi said that military action against Iran is now out of question and the enemy has resorted to a soft warfare campaign and psychological threats through economic sanctions. He also pointed to the U.S. drone, which was recently forced to escape by Iranian fighter jets after entering the country’s airspace over the Persian Gulf, and said that the U.S. sought to test Iranian radar systems’ capability to detect and track U.S. drones. “We observed that the forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran powerfully shot at the U.S. drone and gave a firm response to them” and made the U.S. understand that it should not take such actions again.
