EFE reported many marches to plazas in the country’s principal cities, in
particular, the Plaza de Mayo in Buenos Aires.
The majority of the marchers had responded to calls from the associations
of grandmothers, mothers and sons and daughters of the disappeared, with a
strong presence in acts of commemoration on the Day of Remembrance for Truth
and Justice.
"We want to keep alive the memory of and honor the victims of genocide.
Argentines’ adherence to the maxim of not forgetting is constantly growing,"
said Estela de Carlotto, leader of the Plaza de Mayo Abuelas, AFP reports.
In her Twitter account, Argentine President Cristina Fernández urged
Argentines’ defense of justice, "with faith, with the capacity of love, not
filled with a spirit of hatred, because we do not have that, but neither do we
want impunity."
