ICW finds indications of corruption in 22 state plantation companies

  The findings are a result of investigations in the last three years, 
coordinator of the Law and Court Monitoring Division of the ICW Emerson Yuntho 
said. 

Palembang (ANTARA News) - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) said it has found 
indications of corruption in 22 plantation companies causing potential losses 
of Rp9.8 trillion in state fund.

The findings are a result of investigations in the last three years, said 
coordinator of the Law and Court Monitoring Division of the ICW Emerson Yuntho 
here on Wednesday.

The ICW will continue its investigations to get hard fact to back up the 
allegations before any case is reported to the Corruption Eradication Agency 
(KPK), Emerson said. 

One of the purposes of his visit to this South Sumatra capital city is to 
proceed with the investigations in a number of both state and private 
plantation companies in this province, he said.

He said there are a number of system of corruption potential to be committed by 
plantation companies in Indonesia beginning from the process of securing the 
license, and avoidance of taxes due to the state. 

He called on support from the public in the efforts to uproot rampant 
corruption in the country including in the plantation sector.(*)
