Sensex holds 15,000; RelInf, ICICI up 7% Investors continued to take fresh positions in power, capital goods companies after nuclear trade ban was lifted from India. US government's decision to take over reins of mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fanny Mae to prevent them from failing further boosted sentiments in Asian markets. At 11:26 am, Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex was at 15,039.90, up 556.07 points or 3.84 per cent. The 30-share index touched a high 15,107.01 and low of 14,978.24. National Stock Exchange's Nifty was up 3.61 per cent or 157.05 points at 4,509.35. The index touched a high of 4,558 and low of 4,358.30. BSE Midcap Index was up 1.87 per cent at 5,861.22 and BSE Smallcap Index was higher by 1.60 per cent. Reliance Infrastructure (7.26%), ICICI Bank (6.96%), NTPC (6.37%), BHEL (5.87%), and Larsen & Toubro (5.76%) were the major gainers on the Sensex. Ranbaxy Laboratories (-0.44%) was the only loser in the index. Market breadth was in favour of the bulls on the BSE with 1744 advances and 605 declines.
