Before trying to connect the IOIO-OTG to your Android device by bluetooth,
try a direct cable connection and see if it works.
1. Install the Hello IOIO apk on your Android device
2. Turn off debug mode on your Android device
3. Turn the trimpot on the IOIO-OTG all the way clockwise
4. Force IOIO-OTG to host mode
5. Supply power to IOIO-OTG
6. Use the provided USB-OTG cable to connect your device to the IOIO-OTG
- The USB-OTG cable must be connected to the IOIO-OTG, not the Android
device
- Connect the Android device to the other end of the OTG cable with a
regular micro USB cable
- Do not use a "fast-charging" cable
7. If all goes well, your Android device will detect the connected
accessory
If the above works, only then proceed with bluetooth connection with the
IOIO-OTG.
If the above fails, try again with debug mode enabled on your Android
device. If it still fails, it is likely that the power supply you are using
is not providing enough current.
If connecting to the IOIO-OTG works over USB but not over bluetooth, you
may need a more powerful power supply. My observation has been that if I
use a 5V 500mA power supply, IOIO-OTG will work over USB but fail over
bluetooth. If I switch to a 5V 2A power supply, or a 12V 1A power supply,
then both methods work perfectly.
You never mentioned how you were powering your board. What is the rating of
the power supply you are using?
