It's an improvement upon the last logo I saw, but my concerns are: 1) It will not scale down to icon size very well; too complex. 2) The TeX font, while comfortingly familiar, is too goofy and gangly in this context. 3) The concept is enjoyably clever, but not nifty enough to justify the extra complexity (and the integration of the version number into it). I'm no designer (maybe I should ask that you re-read the above points with that in mind :), but here's my take on it: http://severinghaus.org/tmp/ion-sns.png I think it more or less addresses my concerns while more or less retaining the spirit of the logo.
