I put my reply with my impressions here, taking into account all the contributions posted. I definitely prefer the logo above... beacuse it's minimal and essential just like Ion is in my opinion. (I personally like a lot the dark blue for the background). Maybe a small circle in a slightly lighter blue added to the external black circle could be nice.
