Okay, found it. It was of course a monitor, but I wanted to be sure
which one in the end. I like being able to keep an eye on some things
for feedback, and if I had to turn them all off I could just as easily
use ratpoison, which I am just a little more used to. But, I can run
the clock, very handy, ethernet and mailbox monitors and a workspace
pager, all without any noticeable CPU usage. Any others seem to have
enough usage to nag at me. It was statusbar_external, btw, which
turned out to be doing most of the work. I had forgotten that I had
been using it in the first place, as I had just wanted to see if I
could get a clock with a different color font, and that was the
easiest way it seemed. Certainly not something to be worrying over I
suppose.

Thanks for the help.
