It has not a thing to do with Ion. Gnome just doesn't use standard unix
settings anywhere, instead reimplementing the wheel everywhere, so
everytime people switch from that malware to something else, nothing
works "anymore".
Thanks for your response. In fact, my error, direct rendering does work
with Ion3. It didn't work when I switched from Gnome, to Ion3, but it
does work when I boot up directly into Ion3 without using any other
Window Manager.
