You are absolutely right, the status bar is quite small and hardly
consumes any space in the screen. It's more an obsession of mine. I
want my windows to take up as much space as possible; I have reduced
paddings, margins, font-sizes and borders to the lowest values. The
only window-manager-related space I can afford are the tabs (although
I start wondering if they are really necessary too :). Call it
obsession and you'll be right. After all, this is precisely why I
chose Ion3 as window-manager; it perfectly suits my picky needs.
